The history, significance and reception of the world’s most famous piece for organ in an amazing DVD and CD production!

The British organist and Bach expert Daniel Moult considers Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor BWV 565 in a comprehensive documentation consisting of discussions, videos and sound recordings. He works through the question of Bach’s authorship and provides a formal analysis of the work, and also draws comparisons with early works by Bach for organ, harpsichord and violin in a search for the “original instrument”.
The recordings were made in the Martinikerk in Groningen, the Petruskerk in Leens, the Marienkirche and Georgenkirche in Rötha, the Jacobikirche in Sangerhausen and the Georgenkirche in Eisenach.
Interviews with the Bach experts Christine Blanken, Peter Wollny and Markus Zepf, and images from numerous manuscripts from Bach’s works held in the Staatsbibliothek in Berlin round off the documentation.
